I spend all day in my studio doing three things: writing about cars, editing books, and avoiding Danny’s sad eyes when he feels we have not taken enough fetch breaks that day. Is three enough? Three is not enough.
So given how I spend two-thirds of my day, I was happy to see that the 2014 Mini Takes the States event will benefit Best Friends Animal Society. Any Mini folks who want to rally across the country this summer, from San Francisco to Boston, in the company of other Mini folks while benefiting BFAS’s mission “Save Them All” should check out the official Mini Takes the States site for updates.
The press release I got specifically states that there lots of four-legged copilots on the rally, so if you and Fido or Fifi are up for it, this could be an adventure to remember. In addition to a portion of the proceeds from registration fees (which are $45 per person; dogs are free), there will be opportunities for rally riders to donate at events along the route. Registration is straight-up cheap, but you will have to pay for your hotels, gas, and food along the way. The rally’s FAQ notes that the event schedule marks pet-friendly hotels along the route with a paw print.
